High quality seals
An important advantage of Extreme Stainless steel, SPLIT plummer block bearing housings is that they can be fitted with different type of seals.
High quality seals for split plummer blocks are typically made of materials that are designed to resist wear and tear, while providing an effective barrier against dust, dirt, and other contaminants. Double-lip seals are made of polyurethane, a wear-resistant material which has good elastic properties. The seals are split so that they are easy to fit.
Extreme Bearing offers a wide range of sealing options including oil seals, labyrinth seals or heavy-duty face to face seals. Case end covers are also available. See also our housing seal page.
Available in both a 2-series: The EBL 2-Series vs. 5-Series
Our SS316 split plummer block EBL series is available in both a 2-series and a 5-series configuration. While both series share identical external dimensions for seamless interchangeability, they differ significantly in their seal seat design:
The EBL 2-Series features a larger seal seat diameter, allowing us to develop advanced sealing technologies that ensure maximum service life. As a result, the 2-Series design forms the exclusive foundation for all future Extreme Bearing seal developments across our split plummer block bearing units.
We will continue to offer the 5-Series housing blocks with the traditional seal seat, though they accommodate a more limited range of sealing options.

High-Pressure Washdown Protection: Grease Escape Hole with Non-Return Valve
As a standard factory feature, the excess grease escape hole on our premium stainless steel plummer blocks is fitted with a heavy-duty non-return valve. This smart engineering solution ensures that when machinery undergoes aggressive high-pressure washdowns or jet cleaning, absolutely no water, moisture, or contaminants can penetrate the AISI 316 bearing unit.
Flexible Auxiliary Options:
To adapt to your specific operational environment, the grease escape hole can be supplied with a custom threaded connection upon request, enabling two advanced possibilities:
-
Grease Collection Systems: Allows a flexible hose to be easily mounted, collecting all excess grease to maintain a perfectly clean, eco-friendly, and safe production floor.
-
Continuous Lubrication: Provides the necessary infrastructure to facilitate continuous oil flow lubrication systems for high-speed or high-temperature applications.
Structural Integrity: Solid AISI 316 Stainless Steel Split Plummer Block
We engineered the Extreme Bearing AISI 316 stainless steel split plummer block bearing unit for extreme durability, giving it unmatched structural strength compared to standard split housings.
With a 100% solid AISI 316 stainless steel base and reinforced material surrounding the mounting bolt holes, each split bearing housing endures extreme mechanical loads and heavy vibration. Unlike hollow-base alternatives, our solid-base design prevents housing distortion, eliminates moisture traps, and guarantees maximum structural integrity for your stainless steel split plummer block bearing assemblies in demanding industrial washdown environments.
Advanced Thermal Management: Excellent Heat Dissipation
Beyond structural strength, the solid base of our stainless steel 316 split plummer block bearing unit provides an exceptional operational advantage by maximizing the direct contact area between the housing base and the machinery support surface.
This large, flush contact zone drives heat directly away from the core of the split plummer block bearing unit. By effectively reducing internal operating temperatures, this active thermal management extends the service life of your high-performance bearings, premium seals, and specialized lubricants inside the stainless steel 316 housing.
Food-Grade Hygiene: High-visibility blue end caps and cover
